Who are you and what do you do?
My name is BecBoop (Rebecca Casserly) and I am a blogger and content creator. I'm from Galway and am currently based in London. BecBoop.com is my fashion, beauty, travel and lifestyle blog! I'm recognised as a leading global broadcaster on live-streaming app Periscope with over 116,000 followers across my BecBoop social media channels. I connect with my audience daily on Periscope along with taking them to exclusive events and on my travels.
How did it start and why do you do it?
I am a professional accountant by day but have always had a keen interest in journalism, fashion and generally being creative. Once I had qualified as an accountant I set up my blog to keep myself entertained in my spare time. I moved to London in February 2015 to focus more on my blog. From that I got into live-streaming by joining the Periscope app shortly after it launched and have since been asked to speak at many digital and live-streaming events.
Describe your audience!
My audience are amazing! The BoopTroop are one of the most engaged live-streaming communities and they absolutely make me smile every day when they join me on Periscope. Due to the global nature of Periscope and my travel related content my audience is also very global, I love hearing about the different parts of the world where my viewers are watching from. The BoopTroop have supported many of my initiatives including raising funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust through my Periscope channel. They inspire me to continue doing what I do. I am lucky that through my social media platforms, especially Periscope, I really get to know my audience too and connect with them individually which is fantastic!
What’s your media diet?
Twitter. I am a twitter addict, it is my go-to for all sources of media and news.
Three people you respect?
I would have to say four people as my family are the most important people I respect in the world. My parents have always been so incredibly supportive obviously in everything I do in life and on my blog/live-streaming work. I also have great respect for my brother and sister, both younger than me and working in incredibly important roles. My sister is a nurse and also a professional model and my brother is a fire-fighter. I am very lucky that not only are we family but also best friends.
What excites you right now and Why?
London Fashion Week! This will be my third time covering London Fashion Week on my Periscope channel and blog. I have been the only live-streamer invited to cover LFW on my Periscope channel every season since the app launched and it is my favourite content to share with my community. I have already got some exciting shows lined up and can’t wait to share it!
Proudest post? Finest moment to date? Most embarrassing moment to date?
My proudest moments have been some of the speaking engagements I have done as a result of my live-streaming and blogging work. Most notably I spoke at Mojocon, RTÉ’s mobile journalism conference on the live-streaming panel alongside some top industry speakers.
This was an incredible honor and I was thrilled to have an opportunity to share my live-streaming experience with the conference attendees. The reception and positive feedback I received continues to inspire me daily. I was also asked to speak at Twitter UK’s 10th birthday event in London as the only live-streamer representing the fashion industry on a panel of industry experts.
When Onalytica.com ranked me as the number 4 global beauty blogger influencer in terms of Twitter reach and engagement earlier this year that was definitely one of my proudest blogging moments too!
I have also received some amazing blog award nominations this year including Best Use of Social Media at the #BloggersBlogAwards for my Periscope channel and I am a finalist in the first ever Snapchat awards for Best Newcomer. Fingers crossed!
What channels are your fav and why?
Periscope! I have been on Periscope since shortly after the app launched and through consistent broadcasting have built up an engaged community of almost 50,000 followers. Periscope has also opened up some incredible opportunities for me including London Fashion Week and also when I was the only press invited to cover the opening of the Cheesegrater building in London and Periscope Prince William and Prince Harry at the event! I love sharing content through this live medium and connecting it with my blog and some of my broadcasts which have been featured in the app have received over 120,000 views which is amazing!
Recently I have also been creating a lot of content on Snapchat at Bec_Boop and I find this a fun way to engage with my community in a different way to Periscope.
