The RTÉ Guide rings in 4,000 episodes of Fair City with an great cover pic and interview with the cast. Julie Lordan takes a look at some of the central characters, and gets their take on an exciting week ahead.

There are signs of a storm brewing in Fair City with the arrival of the two Bishop brothers, Denzo and Zumo,
to attend the nuptials of brother Decco and Kerri-Ann. David O’Sullivan, who plays Decco, explains his fears about his clan.

“I think the thing he’d be most worried about is that since they left he has been able to control most aspects of his life successfully. Now that they’re back, their unpredictability scares him."

Jenny Dixon, who plays Kerri-Ann, tells us about her reaction.

“Kerri-Ann holds trust very highly. She has had trust issues in the past with her relationship with Mondo (Raymond). So it’s very upsetting for her when she discovers her happily ever-after guy, Decco, has been lying to her too.”

What is Paul’s take on his marriage? Tony Tormey, who plays Paul, sees it this way:

“I think deep down Paul does really love Niamh and their life together. But Paul wants it all. He got a taste for money and with money, there’s power. Unfortunately, that power has gone to his head and he thinks he is invincible.”

Tony has been in Fair City almost from the start 28 years ago, but he says this storyline has really gripped him.

“To be honest, there have been so many incredible highlights over my time in Fair City, it’s very difficult to pick one. But this story line has definitely been a stand-out for me”.

Tony goes on to say how fulfilling his work on Fairy City has been.

“As an actor, I’ve been able to get my teeth into this and I’ve really enjoyed filming it. I look forward to going to work every day to see what’s going to happen next. So I really hope that people at home enjoy watching it as much as I’ve enjoyed working on it.”
