Of the 55,000 tickets sold, the 5,000 Family Tickets were the first to sell out 2016 and Electric Picnic is jam packed with things all the family will enjoy - it's the pinnacle family music festival of Ireland.
Director Melvin Benn had advice for families looking to get tickets for next year. "Well it's simple advice. The family tickets don't sell out first for no reason. And that is because it is an incredibly special place to bring your children."
Tickets for Electric Picnic 2017 go on sale promptly after the 2016 festival has ended, so families are advised to be ready to book tickets asap. Plus there will be the same amount of tickets on sale - there will not be extra ones as there was for 2016.

So why should families dash for a coveted EP ticket? From Soul Kids to swimming in The Lake, Melvin thinks that the family aspect of Electric Picnic is really important.
"The Soul Kids area is incredibly special", he added, saying:
"You know it makes you want to have children, it's that good! And I've got children. I love kids, I just wish mine were little and I could take them into the Soul Kids area again. That's a really, really special area."
"There's something terrific about any festival" Melvin added.
"But a festival where families are made to feel so welcome gives it a different atmosphere. We're all capable of being naughty occasionally but we're all slightly better behaved when we see kiddies around. That's a very nice thing I hasten to add."
Areas like Soul Kids are unique as they are dedicated children's areas. Jam packed full of activities, workshops and live performances, families can easily spent the entire weekend engaging with all things nature, creative and magical!
The Lake for family swimming
There is a brand new feature at the Picnic this year. The Lake will be open for swimming, equipped with lifeguards to make sure the weekend is fun.
"We've opened the Lake up" Melvin said, "And it's adjacent to the family camping area. And that's been one of the things that's been inspiring me to get the Lake open."
"It's going to be very controlled...For the early part of the day it's just going to be for parents and kiddies. And I think for the kids being able to swim in a natural lake, that's a very special part of what the picnic will become. And that'll be a joy, I think."
