Why did you choose to work in jewellery?
I love beautiful things and My Mum always called me a mag pie because I was drawn to gold, silver and lots of sparkle. During my time at DIT studying Digital Marketing I decided to set up an ecommerce store. With friends already in the Jewellery and Digital Industry this was a very good fit.
What is the most exciting thing about your job?
Watching the lovely reaction of people to our Think of Me charms. We love when customers purchase jewellery we design and recognize the emotional connection we strive to convey. Norah Casey wears a Think of Me Charm as a reminder of her son Dara, whom she keeps close to her at all times. She rarely takes it off and that means a lot to us. Maia Dunphy and Lucy Kennedy also proudly wear their Think of Me pieces for the same reason.
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
Navigating the Wild West that is the digital world. We set up our first website www.LaurynRose.com in 2015. Within 12 months we were re-designing it to improve our message, design and shopping experience for our customers. There was a huge gap between the positive things our customers were saying about our Brand and what we were actually saying on our website. Now we score 9.6 on Independent Survey platform Trust Pilot against an Industry standard of 8.9 which makes us happy because our customers are happy.
What is the process of creating your designs?
Over the past 18 months we have been working closely with a manufacturer to design a new range of Think of Me Charms. It took a lot of time to get it right but just last week we introduced our new Think of Me Bracelet Chains and Charms. Our customers are now able to choose a chain and then add charms to create their own bespoke piece which represents family, friends or loved ones. In otherwords, it is “Unique to You”.
Do you have a favourite piece?
Yes, this Think of Me piece reminds me of my little one Lauryn Rose. We named our new website in her memory and we donate 10% of each sale to LauraLynn Children’s Hospice. It is small and sophisticated yet hangs on a brown leather necklace which is very boho. I hang it from my rear view mirror to remind me of her and to help my driving behaviour so I slow down and drive safer.
Who is your favourite designer/brand?
An all Irish cast of Louise Kennedy, Natalie B. Coleman and Chupi.
Who is your audience?
Think of Me is designed with Mum’s in mind. They are delicate Irish designed and Italian made high grade 925 sterling silver and rose gold pieces that will catch the eye, in a very discreet way. Customers buy as a gift for themselves or as a gift to a loved one. Each charm represents a child, niece, nephew, godchild. It can also represent family, friends or loved ones and 10% of each sale goes to LauraLynn Children’s Hospice.
What inspires you?
Good people doing good things when nobody else is watching. I take inspiration from the beautiful seaside village of Blackrock, where I grew up and now live in the Wee County, Louth.
Who are three people you admire?
Norah Casey, Maia Dunphy, and the late great Caroline Aherne who all do so much to empower women.
