As a parent and author of travel blog, Baby Shindig, Natalie has picked up some great tips on travelling with kids which she shared with RTÉjr TV.

She believes that travelling is a great experience for a family. Visiting different countries introduces children to new cultures, food, ways people dress, architecture, landscape etc.

Travelling also helps children to become adaptable to changes in their routine and allows them explore new environments. Most importantly travelling means the family spends more time together and this helps create a great bond. All great...but how do you survive the trip?

Here are Natalie's tips that she shared with RTÉjr:

Natalie’s Top 6 Tips for Travelling with Kids:

  1. Build less into your itinerary. Be realistic about what you can do in a day with your children.
  2. Research your destination with a family in mind. Think about things like car seats, food, bedtime, naps and buggies.
  3. Know your children’s routines and plan accordingly.
  4. Tag team. Let each parent take time out to do their own thing during the holiday.
  5. Be prepared to learn and adapt. Some things work and others don’t!
  6. Keep some wiggle room in your budget for added conveniences.
