Elephants, baby 'lamps', 'andaleh bulls' - Regular Irish farm animals!

You are guaranteed a giggle if you watch the video below of the gorgeous kids from St Laurence O’Toole’s school in Dublin who were tested on their farming knowledge.

They aren’t alone. Presenters Ella McSweeney and Áine Lawlor will be joined by guest presenter Mairead Farrell and celebrity guests Nathan Carter, Evelyn Cusack and Roz Purcell, who will be taking part in milking competitions, shearing attempts and remote controlling tractors trials.

The show, broadcast live from John Fagan’s farm in Co Westmeath, aims to give audiences an insight into life on the modern farm.

The secret life of the cow will be unveiled, there will be a live link to a pig farm in Kerry and a fish farm in Donegal and farmer Fagan will talk about how he survives lambing season, with over 120 due over the course of the week.

This is one of the busiest times of the year on farms all over the country as they begin to shake off winter and Big Week on the Farm will be there to capture the excitement - filmed live in front of an audience in a purpose built studio.

Big Week on the Farm starts on RTÉ One tonight at 7pm and continues throughout the week.
