The presenter who recently presented the RTÉ 2 Reality Bites programme, The Gun Show, was hoping for a better insight into labour - as was his wife, a mum-of-two!

He told RTÉ TEN/LifeStyle's Sarah McIntyre: "It was worse probably than I would have imagined.

"It was just like nothing I've experienced before... Where is that on the scale of 10... well it's at 10 all the time!"

"I'm just glad I'm not a woman,”

He was quick to point out: "Even though I've been through that, I still can't really feel like I sympathise with that [childbirth] because you don't have all that comes with it.

"So while I can say that I am more understanding, I probably don't really. It was as close as I'll ever get but I think to actually push a small human out of your body is pretty extraordinary and something I won't have to experience."

The RTÉ 2 programme looks at whether men or women are better at dealing with pain and Walsh (42) will face model Claire Tracey (24) in the challenge where pain specialist Dr Declan O’Keeffe uses an electro stimulation device to simulate labour pains.

Tested on Humans, is on RTÉ 2 tonight, Monday December 14, at 9pm.
