John Lewis ad: Like it or loathe it?

We have some fantastic Irish Christmas ads, or at least ads that have a uniquely Irish feel to them, such as the iconic Guinness one, the Cadbury's ones or the Denny's sausages with mammy making a fry-up for all her returning loved ones.

Still every year there is always a lot of excitement and chat over the John Lewis ad and this year's Man on the Moon ad is no exception. If you haven't seen it yet, watch it here and I'll tell you afterwards what the chatter is about this time.

If your eyes are even a tiny bit watery after watching that or you feel any positive feelings at all, I'm in your camp. However, as usual, there are a bunch of cynics who are lashing out saying that there are disturbing undertones to the ad, and that's putting it politely. Within hours of the £7million ad being unveiled, two disturbing hashtags were trending #ManOnTheMoonPaedo and #ManOnTheMoonJimmySaville - with some Tweeters saying that the actor in the ad, looked like the former disgraced presenter.

If anything, the reaction to the gorgeous Lara Reddy's appearance on The Late Late Toy Show this week, (watch it here), has taught us that there are, and will always be, unusually wired people in society who are all too eager to rob the innocent, hopeful and happy of those virtues. So, to hell with the cynics, the naysayers, the warped and the weird.

Christmas is here and it's not just for kids but for that little kid inside all of us. Yes its commercial - how could it not be when buying gifts is part of the whole affair but even that can be magical.
