Two Irish restaurants have been added to the Michelin Guide, securing both a one Michelin star and a two Michelin star rating for the country.
The announcement was made this evening, as the full list of this year's Michelin stars were awarded across the UK and Ireland.
Twenty restaurants were newly awarded One Michelin Star, while three restaurants were awarded Two Michelin Stars and four restaurants were awarded a Michelin Green Star. Five Special Awards were also announced.
Terre, an intimate and modern restaurant at Castlemartyr Resort in East Cork, was awarded one Michelin star, its first star, and winning praise for maximising what it does with local Irish ingredients.
Situated in the Manor House section of the luxurious 5-star resort, the restaurant offers a dining experience that spans three and a half hours, led by Chef Patron Vincent Crepel.
The contemporary French and Asian-inspired menu has included highlights such as Irish deer steaks, and Rhubarb Earl Grey Cream & smoked strawberries, with some dishes finished table side and others fired out of their open kitchen.
Starting from 1 April 2023, the dinner menu is €210/person excluding beverages, while the lunch menu is €110/person excluding beverages. The Terre "Petit Accord" beverage pairing costs €110, while the Terre "Grand Accord" option costs €220.
The restaurant joins Glovers Alley, Variety Jones, Bastible, Campagne, Lady Helen, Aniar, House, The Oak Room, Wild Honey Inn, Ichigo Ichie, Bastion and Chestnut on the list of one Michelin-starred restaurants in Ireland.
Ireland secured a two Michelin star accreditation, which was given to dede, the celebrated Turkish restaurant in Baltimore's Custom House, which was promoted from one star. Headed up by chef Ahmet Dede, inspectors reported that they were "dazzled" by the dishes, which include spiced lobster bisque, cod cooked with buttermilk and potato and more.
The tasting dinner menu costs €140, with a vegetarian and pescetarian option available. A shorter lunch menu is available for €75, while the full lunch tasting menu is €100. The wine pairing costs €90.
The restaurant joins Chapter One by Mickael Viljanen, Restaurant Patrick Gilbaud, Liath and Aimsir as Ireland's two Michelin-starred restaurants.
