Candice Brown calls on GBBO friends to bake her wedding cake

Candice Brown, the much-loved winner of Series seven of The Great British Bake-Off, joined Ray D’Arcy, where she told him about life after the show and her future wedding plans.

She’s in Dublin to promote the upcoming Taste of Dublin festival. She told Ray that appearing on Bake-Off changed her life.

"My world got turned upside down. And backwards forwards, I think".

The win and inevitable publicity have brought about some things Candice would never have thought possible.

"I wrote a [cook] book. And I mean, sometimes I struggle to spell my own name. So, I mean, that was an achievement in itself."

Growing up, Candice spent a lot of time at the pub her parents ran which she says had a big influence on her, Candice said.

"I was around food and drink and things like that all the time and my mum cooking good, homely, pub grub. And, as well, with my nan being the most amazing cook and baker and making everything from scratch - it was just a massive part of family life."

Recently engaged, many fans have been wondering if the GBBO winner will be baking her own wedding cake but Candice says there's isn't a chance.

"No way. I've made a couple and it's the most stressful thing - it's up there with Bake Off. So I said well, I happen to know eleven very good bakers [...] and they said they'd do it. I've let them have full control, it's up to them."

Yep, you read that right. Candice's competitors from the show will be helping to create her wedding cake - we hope none of them have any hard feelings!

The show is notorious for its competitors having goodwill for one another and according to the North London woman, the same is true off-camera.

"You've got a common goal, you've got a common love and we just clicked as a twelve. We still talk nearly every day on our little WhatsApp group," she said.
