Grow Cook Eat is the first series on RTÉ to respond to the burgeoning interest in growing your own food. During this series, we've learned how to grow our own potatoes, tomatoes, carrots and more - from sowing the seed to harvesting to cooking.
For the final episode, hosts Karen O'Donohue and Michael Kelly are teaching us to produce peas. Why peas? Well, they are almost never available in the shops fresh, instead, they are usually frozen.
As soon as a pea is picked from the plant the sugars inside it start to turn to starch which means the flavour starts to deteriorate immediately. Peas that are cooked immediately after picking will always taste nicer than the frozen alternative.
Elsewhere on the show, Michael heads to Dublin and visits Airfield House and Gardens, a 38-acre working farm close to the Dundrum shopping centre which is open to the public all year round.

Meanwhile, Karen O’Donohoe is back in Cork looking at another great community growing project, visiting a Cork Simon residential community where volunteers worked hard on an established garden.
Each programme ends with a recipe using the featured vegetable and made by one of two chefs featured in the series: Jessica Murphy, from Kai Restaurant in Galway, and Jack Kirwan, owner of the Sprout chain of restaurants in Dublin.
