Summer festivals offer the perfect blend of fun and adventure but with long days spent standing, maintaining your festival fitness is key to enjoying any event.
Whether you're off to Castlepalooza, Electric Picnic, the fleadh or any other Irish festival you're in for a treat with performances from some big names from the national and international music scene.
However, all that dancing on a diet of fast food and fizzy drinks can take its toll on your health, leaving you feeling more green than groovy.
Here are some top tips to ensure that you have a wonderful weekend.

Stay sun safe
While the remainder of the Irish summer doesn't look set to be especially sunny, experts recommend everyone wear some level of sun protection factor on a daily basis.
The unpredictability of Irish weather means that while you may be raving in the rain one minute, you could just as easily be roasted by the sun's rays the next.
To be sure that you weather the entire weekend of festival fun, make sure to slap on some sun cream before setting out.

Eat properly
Much of how we feel at festivals comes down to the food we are eating or lack thereof.
For Eleanora Allegri, menu selector for festival pop up restaurant at Punchestown By Barilla there is only one thing to eat at a festival - Italian.
"For a festival I suggest you to have a good pasta dish because pasta is very energetic" Eleanora explains.
"Spaghetti, penne, fusilli with simple tomato sauce and some parmesan would be the fuel for all the day" she finishes.
When it comes to snacking during the day Eleanora recommends keeping it simple; "...A simple fruit or crackers or something refreshing in your bag and then enjoy it during the festival" she says.

Hydrate
We lose fluids through sweat which leaves us vulnerable to dehydration resulting in dizziness, headaches and lethargy - none of which are conducive to festival fun.
According to the Health Service Executive for optimum health we ought to be gulping down 1.2 litres of water a day - even more when the temperature rises. They recommend drinking 250ml of water every fifteen minutes or 500ml every half hour in these conditions.
In the middle of a gig even a glass of the stuff can be hard to come by so be sure to buy a bottle of water before the singing starts and keep drinking it throughout the day.
