5 Things We Loved about The Taste of Success: The Final!

1. James plans for the future.
We loved James’ assumption that they are destined to tie the knot – despite obviously not having discussed it with William first! We bet James will insist on screening the whole ceremony on Snapchat – so they’ll need a padre who can perform a 10-second ceremony... AND it’ll be tricky getting a ring on James' finger because the phone is never out of his hand...

2. William’s reaction to his own name.
What is with William Murray’s terrified reaction when he hears his own name? If we didn’t know him better we’d say he’s definitely up to something and scared of getting caught. We do think it’s probably a good idea if James stops doing it when William has a knife in his hand...

3. Bringing back the former contestants
So the ultimate challenge for our 2 finalists was to plonk them in one of the best restaurants in the country – the Tannery in Dungarvan under the watchful eye of head chef Paul Flynn  - a hard enough task already. Then to have them cook for all their former competitors -TWIST!! Some of our previous contestants couldn’t help sticking the knife in - and we’re not talking about their table manners. Whoever came up with that is an evil genius.

4. Our four mentors
I think we can all agree our four mentors played a blinder this year. To have a rematch between last years two final mentors was intriguing. The amazing Domini Kemp has been in every final thus far while Michelin star JP McMahon was going for his second victory in a row. When the curtain dropped and the smoke cleared (dry ice really) it was JP who emerged victorious. Domini was extremely gracious in defeat, but then she has had plenty of practice...(yikes).

5. Our winner Michele Kilkenny and her fantastic pie
Michele was always confident in herself and her product from day one – and it turns out with very good reason. The Currabinny boys ran her close but she is the very worthy winner of this year’s Taste of Success competition. Michele had called it ‘the Paddy pie’ but wisely Lidl have renamed it ‘The Irish Beef Brisket pie’ and you’ll find Michele’s dish in every Lidl in the country. Congratulations!
