Products that have been recalled include Mars, Milky Ways and Snickers in both Celebrations and Mini Mix varieties, according to a statement issued by the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority.
In early January there was a complaint by a German consumer about plastic in a Snickers bar and the product was traced back to the Netherlands.
"We want to avoid having consumers who bought one of the (affected) products consume them," Mars said in a statement on its German website.
It said the recall affected Mars and Snickers products, Milky Way Minis and Miniatures as well as certain Celebrations chocolate boxes with best-before dates ranging from June 19, 2016 to January 8, 2017.
However those dates may not be the same in other countries outside of Germany, the spokeswoman said but added that this an isolated incident and the reason they are recalling so many products is a precautionary measures.
