The Met Gala is arguably one of the biggest dates on the fashion calendar when celebrities get the chance to show off their most extravagant looks under the watchful eye of Vogue editor and event chair Anna Wintour.
From Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination to Camp: Notes On Fashion, the star-studded fundraiser sees some of the world's most famous faces work the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, dressing to match the year's experimental theme.
Officially named as The Costume Institute Gala, the annual fundraiser was established in 1948 and is usually held on the first Monday in May. However, due to the coronavirus outbreak, this year's event has been postponed.
To mark the occasion, celebrities and fashion fans alike have taken to social media to join Vogue magazine and Billy Porter's #MetGalaChallenge by recreating some of the fundraiser's most iconic red carpet looks.

Gigi Hadid, 2018
Finished my #metgalachallenge with a paper dress based on Gigi Hadid's Versace look. I’m really pleased with how it turned out considering it’s made ENTIRELY of last Christmas’ leftover wrapping paper, glue, paint, and a pillowcase for the sleeve. 😄 pic.twitter.com/QgpWXVe0Jx

Recreating one of my favorite Met Gala looks ever with the help of a tarp, some Christmas lights and packing tape. I think Alessandro Michele would approve.
