Setting spray is a liquid product that we spray on our faces after the application of our make-up, making for a longer-lasting look.
If we look at beauty bloggers, we usually see their favourite powder and foundation, but not their favourite setting spray. It's the underdog of the make-up world, but we don't think it should be, neither does make-up artist Thomas Johnston.
When RTÉ LifeStyle asked Thomas why he recommends setting spray he said, "you can use it to prime the skin and also refresh to refresh and hydrate throughout the day".

Setting spray isn't the usual staple we see in make-up bags, but the ones we've used have proven to be the best for keeping your face together for those long-day occasions when you need your make-up to stay put.

This spray contains nourishing minerals and vitamins such as Aloe Barbadensis leaf extract, green tea, cucumber, and vitamins A, C and E. These ingredients soothe and hydrate the skin while keeping your make-up in place and revitalises make-up colour.
Its small bottle makes it compact and easy to carry around if you feel your face needs a quick spray to feel refreshed again, although it lasts up to 16 hours so re-applying shouldn't be necessary unless you have oilier skin.

This setting spray is excellent for getting an all-day-long dewy look without the shine that will take your make-up to the next level. Your foundation and contouring won't budge and oily patches will be a thing of the past. Another small bottle to keep in your handbag if you feel like a quick refreshing spray throughout the day.
5. Rimmel #insta Fix and Go Setting Spray, €9.49, Boots
This spray will lock down your make-up but will still allow for your skin to feel fresh and breathable. It has a multi-purpose feature as it can be used before applying your make-up as a primer too, giving you more bang for your buck. It also contains extracts of camomile and cucumber.
