Nicky Byrne famously took part in BBC's Strictly Come Dancing in 2012 so he knows more than anyone just how exhausting Cha Cha training can be. The Dancing of the Stars host, who will co-present with Amanda Byram, says that the competitors will be coming up against some exhaustive training but the real test will be keeping a positive mentality.

"I mean the fitness will come because they're going to be dancing five days a week so they'll get muscles on their muscles but certainly from a mental point of view they need to be prepared for a big show."

The full line-up for RTÉ's Dancing With The Stars includes sports broadcaster Des Cahill, comedian Katherine Lynch, weight loss expert Dr. Eva Orsmond,  model Thalia Heffernan, Kerry footballer Aidan O’Mahony, RTÉ reporter Teresa Mannion, HomeTown's Dayl Cronin, Big Brother's Hughie Maughan, former Fair City actress Aoibhín Garrihy, Red Rock's Denise McCormack and comedian Des Bishop.

The Westlife star says that the pressure of constant judgement, learning steps, attending interviews and non-stop training can certainly build week after week. However, Nicky hinted that the yet-to-be-revealed competitors may be well used to handling high-pressure situations.

"The sports stars always do well because they're used to wanting to win and being competitive but again dancing is a different thing, you can't be shouldering someone off the ball in dancing."

Finally, Nicky says that all the competitors, including those sports stars, will have to endure some new and interesting beauty routines...

"They have to get fake tans and there's always a running joke about getting fake tanned up and how dark you're going to go"

However, it's not all bad for the boys as they get to have their James Bond moment every week.

"Its like going to the Oscars every week, you're getting into a black tie suit, dickie bow, red carpet event. There's no show on television like this and when you dress like that you feel a million dollars."

Dancing with the Stars will air on RTÉ One on Sunday 8th January until 26th March 2017. Tune into RTÉ One at 8:30pm for Can’t Stop Dancing, the preview show hosted by Bláthnaid Tracey.
