When it comes to creating a new town, it is very important to plan ahead and think about where services such as hospitals, fire stations, shops, schools, parks and playgrounds should be.
Should a school be close to a playground? Or a busy road? This is why town planning is important.
Exercise 1
Plan your own town!
Here is your chance to create your own town! First give it a name.
Next, we use symbols to help us design a town, putting suitable buildings besides each other.
