The Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) has selected director Pat Collins' feature film Song Of Granite as Ireland’s submission for the Foreign Language category at the 90th annual Academy Awards of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences.
The film, based on the life of the renowned sean-nós singe Joe Éinniú from Connemara, mixes traditional narrative episodes with documentary footage. Described by IFTA as a film that 'celebrates the music Joe Heaney created while painting an unflinching portrait of Heaney, the man', the film is Ireland’s Selection for Foreign Language Submission in this year's Academy Awards, to be held on the 4th of March, 2018.
TG4 a choimisiúnaigh an scannán agus i measc na scríbhneoirí tá Pat Collins, Eoghan Mac Giolla Bhríde agus Sharon Whooley. Taispeánadh an scannán don chéad uair, ag an bhféile scannán SXSW i Meiriceá níos luaithe i mbliana.
Fógrófar an gearrliosta an ghradaim ar an 5 Eanáir, 2018.
