Irish director Lee Cronin unveils The Mummy trailer

The first trailer for Lee Cronin's The Mummy has been released ahead of the Irish director's new horror arriving in cinemas on Friday, 17 April.

Teeing up what's ahead, studio New Line Cinema said: "The young daughter of a journalist disappears into the desert without a trace - eight years later, the broken family is shocked when she is returned to them, as what should be a joyful reunion turns into a living nightmare."

Lee Cronin has teamed up with filmmakers Jason Blum and James Wan's recently combined production companies, Blumhouse and Atomic Monster, for The Mummy. The Mummy stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, and Natalie Grace, with Veronica Falcón.

When the film was first announced, Dubliner Cronin said: "This will be unlike any Mummy movie you ever laid eyeballs on before. I'm digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening."

Evil Dead Rise grossed nearly $150 million worldwide. Cronin made his big-screen debut in 2019 with the acclaimed Irish horror The Hole in the Ground.
