Cardboard Gangsters director returns with new crime thriller

Cardboard Gangsters director Mark O'Connor will release his new film, Amongst the Wolves, in Irish cinemas in May.

The trailer for the film, which is intended for a mature audience, has just been released.

The crime thriller stars Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones, Kin, Love/Hate), Luke McQuillan (Darklands, Game of Thrones), Jade Jordan (Blackshore, Twig), Louise Bourke (Let the Wrong One In, Who We Love), Helen Behan (Small Things Like These, This is England '88), and newcomer Daniel Fee.

Co-written by director O'Connor and star McQuillan, Amongst the Wolves tells the story of "a homeless former soldier who, haunted by PTSD, forms an unlikely bond with a troubled teenager, while he navigates the dangers of life on the streets".

It will be released via Wildcard Distribution in Irish cinemas on Friday 2 May and receives its UK premiere at the Manchester Film Festival this weekend. Cardboard Gangsters won a number of awards at the festival, including Best Feature Film.

"We made this film independently and it wouldn't have been possible without the incredible cast and crew," said O'Connor.

"It's very exciting that we are now opening in cinemas and are looking forward to our UK premiere at the brilliant Manchester Film Festival this Sunday."
