Big Night of Musicals 2024 by the National Lottery, 7.50pm, BBC One

Here's a treat for anyone who likes a show tune or twelve.

Jason Manford hosts a musical celebration from Manchester's AO Arena, with guests including Beverley Knight, Daniel Mays Nicole Scherzinger and Alfie Boe.

Broadway sensation Hadestown present a UK television exclusive ahead of its West End debut.

Also featured are show-stopping numbers from the casts of Everybody's Talking About Jamie, Disney's Aladdin, A Chorus Line, Grease The Musical, and Mrs Doubtfire, The Wizard of Oz, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, The Phantom of the Opera and Hamilton.

For starters, Elaine Paige (below) guides viewers through a selection of songs from musicals from the BBC archives.

They include tunes from Cats, The Lion King, Funny Girl, My Fair Lady, Sunset Boulevard, West Side Story, A Little Night Music and The Sound of Music.

Followed at 10.50pm by Andrew Lloyd Webber at the BBC, Elaine Paige: I'm Still Here (12.20am) and Elaine Paige at the BBC (1.20am).

La La Land, 9.40pm, RTÉ2

Damien Chazelle's Bafta-winning musical, starring Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling and John Legend.

Jobbing actress Mia and struggling jazz pianist Sebastian fall in love and attempt to realise their respective dreams in Los Angeles - a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts.

But keeping the wolf from the door without compromising their beliefs proves harder than expected.

Gangs of New York, 9.45pm, Channel 4

Martin Scorsese's epic historical drama, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis, Cameron Diaz and Liam Neeson, is a real treat.

An Irishman in 19th-century New York is taken under the wing of the ruthless gang leader who killed his father 15 years before, and rises up the ranks of power - all the while plotting his revenge.

Meanwhile, the tension caused by the enforced drafting of the population into the army to fight in the Civil War explodes into bloodshed and riots.

Halloween, Midnight, BBC One

Here’s a little something to keep you up late.

Director David Gordon Green's horror sequel based on John Carpenter's much imitated 1978 namesake movie, starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer and Andi Matichak.

Four decades ago, Michael Myers terrorised the town of Haddonfield, Illinois and went on a killing spree, 15 years after murdering his sister.

After a prison bus crashes, the killer is back in the wild, but survivor Laurie Strode is ready for his return.

Family Flick

Sing 2, 6.35pm, RTÉ One

Animated musical sequel, with the voices of Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson and Bono.

With his theatrical company a local success, Buster Moon is dreaming of bigger things.

Unfortunately, when a talent scout dismisses their work as inadequate for the big time, Buster is driven to prove her wrong.

Buster inspires his players to gamble everything to sneak into a talent audition for the demanding entertainment mogul Jimmy Crystal.

Against the odds, they catch his interest with some frantic creative improvisation and even more desperate lies like personally knowing the reclusive rock star Clay Calloway, who has not been seen in 15 years.

Kerry host Derry (throw-in 5.30pm) as Damian Lawlor presents coverage of the match from the opening round of fixtures in Allianz Football League Division One, held at Austin Stack Park.

Kerry's David Clifford

Kerry will be looking to improve on last season's mid-table finish, while Derry are back in the top flight after earning promotion from Division Two.

Match of the Day Live: The FA Cup, 12.15pm, BBC One

A typical Goliath v David FA Cup tie as Ipswich Town host Maidstone United (KO 12.30pm) in a fourth-round tie at Ipswich’s Portman Road.

National League South outfit Maidstone are the lowest-ranked team left in the competition, but claimed the scalp of a Football League outfit in the previous round when they overcame Stevenage 1-0.

But they face a much sterner test this time around against the Tractor Boys, who have impressed in the Championship this term and won 3-1 at AFC Wimbledon in round three.
