Andrew Scott among Film Independent Spirit Award nominees in US

Andrew Scott has been shortlisted for Best Lead Performance at the upcoming Film Independent Spirit Awards in the US for his work opposite fellow Irish actor Paul Mescal in All of Us Strangers.

The acclaimed drama has also been nominated for Best Feature and Best Director for Andrew Haigh.

Written by director Haigh (Weekend, 45 Years, Lean on Pete), All of Us Strangers is based on the 1987 Taichi Yamada novel Strangers.

On Sunday at the British Independent Film Awards in London, All of Us Strangers won seven awards

The synopsis reads: "One night in his near-empty tower block in contemporary London, Adam (Andrew Scott) has a chance encounter with a mysterious neighbour, Harry (Paul Mescal), which punctures the rhythm of his everyday life.

"As a relationship develops between them, Adam is preoccupied with memories of the past and finds himself drawn back to the suburban town where he grew up, and the childhood home where his parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell) appear to be living, just as they were on the day they died, 30 years before."

All of Us Strangers is due for release in Irish cinemas on Friday 26 January 2024.
