Director Ethan Hawke brings life and colour to this definitive history of their dedication to their art, philanthropy, and each other.

Don’t expect a bland and reverential look at Newman and Woodward. Here they are, warts 'n’ all.

Queens of Disco, 10.00pm, BBC Two

Graham Norton celebrates the careers of some of the greatest names in disco music, including Gloria Gaynor, Donna Summer, Grace Jones and Chaka Khan.

He also explores Madonna's return to her 1980s’ roots and the success it brought her in the UK pop charts.

That’s followed at 11pm by Donna Summer: TOTP2 Special.

Mark Radcliffe introduces archive clips of the singer (above), including her first performances on Top of the Pops with I Remember Yesterday and Winter Melody in 1977 and her last studio performance on Later with Jools Holland in 2004.

New or Returning Shows

State of Happiness, 9.00pm, BBC Four

It’s season two of this oil-soaked Norwegian drama set in the late 1960s in the small coastal town of Stavanger.

The alarm goes off at the Bravo platform, and Rein finds himself at the centre of events. Anna is tired of getting rejection letters.

In episode two at 9.45pm, it’s Studio 37's opening night, but it remains to be seen if anyone will show up. The nation holds its breath as work to prevent catastrophe continues.

Britain by Beach, 8.00pm, Channel 4

Anita Rani returns to travel across Britain and discover the remarkable secret history of the country’s beaches.

She begins in Cornwall, a county renowned for its 420 miles of glorious coastline.

At Porthcurno beach, Anita uncovers the hidden story of ingenious Victorian engineering buried beneath the golden sand, and how this remote spot remains central to Britain's global communications

Sicily: Wonder of the Mediterranean, 8.00pm, BBC Four

I love Sicily and cannot recommend it too highly. It’s a fascinating place and a superb holiday destination.

In this two-parter, Michael Scott traces the history of the island, from the first arrival of ancient Greek settlers 3,000 years ago to the arrival of the Byzantine Empire.

He begins his journey on the slopes of Mount Etna, Europe's largest active volcano, and discovers how the Greeks began to settle on Sicily's east coast.

This is where they began planting their olives and vines and building great city states that soon came to rival even Athens itself.

New to Stream

American Carnage, Sky Cinema & NOW

Here's a passable, post-Trump thriller.

After a governor issues an executive order to arrest the children of undocumented immigrants, the newly detained youth are offered an opportunity to have their charges dropped by volunteering to provide care to the elderly.

Once inside the eldercare facility, the volunteers discover the governor and the facility's supervisor have cooked up a horrifyingly depraved conspiracy.

It’s one that endangers the young and the old in this twisted thriller-comedy.

Oleksandr Usyk v Anthony Joshua II, Sky Sports Box Office

Dubbed the Rage on the Red Sea, Anthony Joshua faces a rematch against WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk at King Abdullah Sport City in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Anthony Joshua was outclassed by the Ukranian heavyweight back in September 2021 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, where he lost the match and his championships by unanimous decision.

This marks AJ’s twelfth consecutive world heavyweight title match and a win would make him a three-time world champion.

Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie, 9.25pm, RTÉ One

It’s become a cliché to say that Brendan O’Carroll’s comedy creation is both a massive hit and a major head-scratcher for some, but fans should lap this movie up once again.

The indomitable Irish matriarch discovers that a plan is afoot by developers to buy the famous Dublin street market where her family has run a fruit and veg stall for generations.

Assembling a band of eccentric allies, she plans to fight back, only to realise her daughter is not interested in taking over the family business.

Breakfast on Pluto, 11.15pm, RTÉ One

Here’s another chance to see this quirky comedy drama, starring Cillian Murphy, Liam Neeson and Ruth Negga, written and directed by Neil Jordan and based on the novel by Patrick McCabe.

In the 1970s, a young transwoman comes of age by leaving her Irish town for London, in part to look for her mother and in part because her gender identity is beyond the town's understanding.

In the process she manages to fall foul of the IRA.

Family Flick

The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, 6.35pm, RTÉ One

Excellent animated adventure sequel, featuring the voices of Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks and Will Arnett.

Five years after events of the first film, teenager Finn has rebuilt Bricksburg into a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

When Emmet is plagued by a vision of an impending cataclysm, he and Lucy fight to protect their beloved city from invaders.
