Joni Mitchell made a rare public appearance at the Newport Folk Festival over the weekend and performed several of her best-known songs.
The 78-year-old folk musician joined country star Brandi Carlile and sang Both Sides Now, Big Yellow Taxi, A Case of You, during which she was joined by Marcus Mumford, and The Circle Game.
Mitchell, who suffered a brain aneurysm in March 2015, also made an appearance at the MusiCares' 2022 Person of the Year gala earlier this year and played two songs.
Paul Simon (80), who announced his retirement from music in 2018, also made a surprise appearance at the Newport Folk Festival and played his songs Graceland and The Boxer during a tribute set dedicated to his music.
