The American actor Paul Herman, best known for his roles in The Sopranos and The Irishman, has died on his 76th birthday.
Herman died on 29 March but his cause of death has not yet been released.
His death was confirmed by former castmate Michael Imperioli, who played Christopher Moltisanti in The Sopranos. Herman played the role of Peter 'Beansie' Gaeta in the iconic HBO American crime-drama.
Imperioli announced the news on Instagram, saying his "friend and colleague" had passed away.
"Paulie was just a great dude. A first class storyteller and raconteur and one hell of an actor," Imperioli wrote.
"Goodfellas, Once Upon a Time in America, The Irishman and of course The Sopranos are some highlights," he continued.
"Paulie lived around the corner from me the last few years and I am glad we got to spend some time together before he left us."
Imperioli added: "I'll miss him. Lots of love to his family, friends and community of actors and filmmakers."
Actress Demi Mazar, who appeared alongside Herman in Goodfellas, was among those expressing their sadness in the comments.
She wrote: "Noooooo!!! Oh no. I have such a long history with Paulie since the early 80's."
Herman most recently starred as Whispers DiTullio in Martin Scorsese's crime epic The Irishman in 2019.
He also appeared in David O. Russell's American Hustle in 2013 and Silver Linings Playbook in 2012.
