Dublin pop singer Aimée has released her new single, Nobody Else. We asked her the BIG questions . . .
Working on the track with long-time producer Richey McCourt (Will Young, TINI) and Swedish writer Nick Jarl (Westlife, Loreen), the track marks the end of lockdown for Aimée.
After beginning the writing process over video call, when restrictions eased, she flew to Stockholm to finish the song in person.
"Finishing this song in snowy Stockholm was a dream come true. I got to write in person, in the room with incredible songwriters," she says.
"I was lucky enough to spend some time with my songwriting hero Max Martin, at his home studio in Stockholm. It was a dream to play him the unfinished version of Nobody Else and some other unreleased material and chat all things songwriting with him.
"It was so inspirational, and I carried that excitement with me, as myself, Nick and Richey put the finishing touches to Nobody Else."
Aimée plays: The Academy Green Room, Dublin, February 8, Róisin Dubh, Galway, February 9, Kasbah Social Club, Limerick, February 10, and Winthorp Avenue, Cork, February 11.
Tell us three things about yourself?
My favourite things are performing, laughing and long walks on the beach.
How would you describe your music?
A modern blend of 90/00s Swedish pop. It's either a fun upbeat vibe or a stripped back ballad. Either way I just want to make people feel something.
Who are your musical inspirations?
Super hard to choose because I find inspiration everywhere and it changes all the time. Right now, I’m taking inspiration from Robyn, The Weeknd and Destiny’s Child.
What was the first gig you ever went to and the first record you ever bought/downloaded?
I think the first gig I went to was Westlife and the first record I bought with my own money was Baby One More Time by Britney.
What’s your favourite song right now?
Shawn Mendes - It’ll Be Okay.
Favourite lyric of all time?
"Who knows maybe I can sell out shows without taking off my clothes, god made me sexy I don’t care if only I know" - Tori Kelly.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
All Coming Back To Me Now - Celine Dion.
Where can people find your music/more information?
