A League of Their Own captain Jamie Redknapp has said that he and the other stars of the Sky game show have experienced "an amazing time" at the National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska, Co Laois.

The former Liverpool and England midfielder has been spending time in Ireland with A League of Their Own presenter Romesh Ranganathan, fellow captain and former England cricketer Freddie Flintoff and former Manchester United and France defender Patrice Evra as they film for the series.

On Wednesday, they tried to get to grips with ploughing.

When asked by Newstalk's Henry McKean how he had enjoyed his day in the fields, Redknapp replied: "There's been a lot of ploughing! I must admit, it's been an incredible experience.

"I've obviously heard about it. I've spent a lot of time in Ireland, lots of different experiences playing golf down at Adare Manor and places like Ballybunion, which is one of my favourite golf courses in the world. But to do something like this...

"Yesterday, we were road bowling, down near Dingle, and then today, to come here, it's been so much fun. And to see lots of people come out - obviously, not the hundred thousand that are normally here - it's just nice to get into the tradition of what, you know, people do.

"Do you think you could take up being a farmer?" the Hard Shoulder's McKean wondered.

"Totally honest? No," laughed Redknapp. "[But] I do love the experience."
