Antonio Banderas has joined the cast of the new Indiana Jones movie, which is currently in production in Scotland.

The Spanish actor, who has appeared in Zorro, Shrek, Spy Kids, and Pain & Glory, will join leading man Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, Toby Jones and Shaunette Renée Wilson in what is thought to be the final movie in the long-running series.

Plot details of the movie are top secret, but photos released yesterday from the filming of a chase scene in Glasgow seemed to suggest that the film will be set in 1969 during the moon landing.

Fleabag creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge will play the female lead, with Steven Spielberg as a producer on the movie, and James Mangold as director. John Williams will also be returning as the composer of the movie, having worked on every score in the franchise since it began in 1981.

Banderas is currently completing work on action-thriller The Enforcer, which was shot earlier this month in Greece and also stars Kate Bosworth and 2 Chainz.

Indiana Jones 5 is scheduled to be in cinemas on July 29, 2022.
