Actress and singer Kate Robbins (The Kate and Ted Show, The Kate Robbins Show) has been signed up by EastEnders to play Jen Glover - a music agent who arrives in Albert Square to see if an E20 resident has what it takes.

Announcing Robbins' guest role, the BBC soap said: "Jen is an old friend of Rocky's (Brian Conley) and is called to The Vic to meet an upcoming musical talent that Rocky has discovered at the markets of Albert Square - Whitney.

"An old-school rocker, the no-nonsense Jen is determined to make Whitney a star - but does she have what it takes?"

Robbins, whose other credits include Victoria Wood's Dinner Ladies and voicing Spitting Image, said she had "a ball" filming in Walford.

"It was surreal to be sat in The Queen Vic for my first scenes with some of the legends of Albert Square," she added. "Working alongside the team was a dream and I can't wait to see the scenes on screen."

Robbins will make her debut as Jen on RTÉ One and BBC One in August.

EastEnders airs on RTÉ One and BBC One on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
