Robin Wright finds 'long-lost brother' in Land co-star Demián Bichir

Robin Wright has told RTÉ Entertainment that she felt like she had found her "long lost-brother" in fellow actor Demián Bichir when she directed and starred opposite him in the wilderness drama Land.

Wright's just-released feature directorial debut sees the House of Cards star play Edee, who leaves the city for the mountains of Wyoming after suffering a great loss - not realising just how out of her depth she will be once the weather changes.

At Edee's lowest ebb, local hunter Miguel (Bichir, A Better Life, Weeds) finds her and tries to help her back on her feet.

The chemistry between Wright and Bichir is superb - and was there from the first time they met.

Land is in cinemas now

"The minute I met him, I was like, 'I've known you my whole life'," recounted Wright. "That's a real gift when you have that sort of intrinsic, connective feeling with somebody that you don't know. You just know them. And it was so perfect for this movie."

"I learned so many things about this kid," Bichir continued. "But even more than that, it was a confirmation of how the best writers/artists are always the most generous and kind."

"The beautiful message that this script had at the end - it's so hopeful," Wright added. "That there is light at the end of the tunnel. You can get through hard times, with the kindness of other people."

Land is in cinemas now.
