Eurovision hopeful Lesley Roy has hit over 1 million views on YouTube with Ireland's entry, Maps. The track has also returned to the Irish Homegrown Chart Top Ten ahead of her Semi-Final performance at the Song Contest on Tuesday, May 18.

The visuals for the catchy and uplifting song show Roy running through a forest, a motif which will be carried through to her performance in Rotterdam where she will be taking to the stage barefoot.

Maps has also bounded back into the Irish Homegrown Chart Top 10 ahead of this year's song contest where it currently sits at number 7.

The Dublin singer, who missed out on performing at last year's Eurovision due to the pandemic, said she was "so excited" for this year's contest.

After Saturday's first rehearsal on stage in Rotterdam at the Ahoy arena, she said: "I'm so excited after waiting so long to come and see everybody and to have our feet on the stage - I'm so happy.

"It's such a build-up to get to it. It feels great after the first rehearsal, the first time seeing it together.

"We have a few more things that we want to look at and tweak over the next few days, but I'm very happy with how that went."

Lesley Roy will perform Maps at the Eurovision semi-final on May 18

The 34-year-old grew up during Ireland's Eurovision glory era and she is determined to add to that rich history.

"I really grew up in the golden era where we were winning back-to-back years and the Riverdance explosion. I think my first Eurovision memories were Niamh Kavanagh and then Paul and Charlie for Rock N'Roll Kids", she said.
