This Time with Alan Partridge, 9.30pm, BBC One

It’s season two of the rebooted Alan Partridge, starring Steve Coogan, with Susannah Fielding, Felicity Montagu and Tim Key.

The last run was great fun - particularly the Martin Brennan segment, when Come Out Ye Black and Tans got an airing on UK prime time TV.

Now the main man on BBC magazine show This Time, Alan is relishing this Indian summer in his rather chequered broadcasting career.

But he’s also conscious of being left in the shadow of co-presenter Jennie and alert to potential changes behind the scenes, so he grows ever more anxious about his place in the big time.

It’s another mixed bag of entertainment and real-life stories on this week’s show.

Singer-songwriter Noel Gallagher (below) will be telling Ryan Tubridy about Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds' upcoming greatest hits collection.

The realities of life for the deaf will be discussed as Calum Geary and his father Andrew and talk to Ryan about Calum's dreams for his future.

After 14 months cocooning at home, six fully vaccinated pensioners visit the studio as they excitedly embrace their newfound freedoms, while four amateur DIY enthusiasts will showcase their special creations for outdoor entertaining this summer.

Bell X1 will also feature on the show.

Continuing to examine some of the most influential and memorable albums of all time, the attention turns to super-cool British soul group Soul II Soul’s 1989 debut album Club Classics vol 1.

It included the classic singles Keep on Moving and Back to Life, the latter of which was a number one hit in the UK and also found success in the United States, with the song winning the group a Grammy in 1990 for Best R&B Performance.

From award-winning showrunner Julie Gearey, this sci-fi drama promises to take you from the fringes of outer space to the depths of human emotion.

When law-abiding space cop Ash Harper is convicted of a crime she did not commit, she is sentenced to exile on a prison planet and loaded onto a prison spaceship - the Hemlock.

A prison ship is no place for a Commonworld cop, and Arch-Marshall Rebecca Harper (Head of Galactic Security, and Ash’s mother) is determined to prove her daughter’s innocence and bring her safely home.

The extraordinary story of John Philip Holland (1841-1914) the Clare-born inventor of the submarine.

He was born in Liscannor in west Clare, and later emigrated to USA.

He had long believed that it was possible to design and produce a sea-going vessel that could travel safely underwater but his first designs and prototypes were rejected by the US Navy.

With financial help from the Irish Republican Brotherhood (whom he supported) he persisted until in 1897 the Navy finally accepted a submarine of his design and placed an order for more.

This is his story.

The Mosquito Coast, Apple TV+

This new drama series was adapted from the best-selling novel of the same name and stars Justin Theroux (whose uncle Paul wrote the book), Melissa George, Logan Polish and Gabriel Bateman.

The story follows the dangerous journey of a radical idealist and brilliant inventor, Allie Fox (Theroux), who uproots his family for Mexico when they suddenly find themselves on the run from the US government.
