Ruth Negga is attached to star as the late iconic entertainer and civil rights activist Josephine Baker in a new series from US studio ABC Signature.
Entertainment trade website Deadline reports that Josephine will tell the story of Missouri-born Baker's journey from Jazz Age star to French Resistance agent to her fight against segregation and racism in the US.
It adds that the limited series will explore "the raw talent, sexual fluidity, struggles and bold life of an icon".
The series will be directed by Black-ish and Empire director Millicent Shelton. Negga will be among the executive producers on the planned project.
The Ethiopian-Irish actress' new film, Passing, is due on screens later this year and was recently acquired by Netflix.
