Dublin fourpiece Klubber Lang have released two new songs, There, There and Not My Day. We asked guitarist Ciaran Tallon the BIG questions . . .
Somewhat of a nineties supergroup, the band are made up of Revelino guitarist Tallon, ex-(sic) bass player Ciaran McGoldrick on vocals and bass, ex-Mexican Pets drummer Fin O'Leary and producer Ronan McHugh on keyboards and production.
Both new songs are bracing bolts of punk energy, oozing attitude and pin-sharp melodies and you can find them on the band's Bandcamp.
Tell us three things about yourself?
I Love making and playing music, football and playing guitars, not all at the same time though.
How would you describe your music?
It’s just Rock `n' Roll. I don’t get all these genres. Like the Beatles were punk, prog rock, pop, and everything else etc. It’s all just music.
Who are your musical inspirations?
As a musician, it would be The Stranglers, The Jesus Lizard, The Beatles, and hundreds more. When you think about it as your life goes on and you get into different stuff.
How are you occupying yourself during the coronavirus lockdown?
Surprising well. I worked loads on the Klubber Lang songs and also with Revelino on our re-releases, which I would normally not have had the time to do either. Working on both was really brilliant and great fun.
What’s your favourite song right now?
An Irish artist called Anderson has two songs, History and Patterns. I just can’t stop listening to them.
Favourite lyric of all time?
Without being prejudiced, "Give your hand to the ghost that haunts you, it’s been and gone again, it’s all been done and will be done again" my brother Brendan Tallon on the Revelino song, Been and Gone Again.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?
You'll Never Walk Alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers or Gimme Some Truth by John Lennon.
