Oscars organiser the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has confirmed that the Famine drama Arracht, the documentary Crock of Gold: A Few Rounds with Shane MacGowan and the Irish animated film Wolfwalkers are part of the packed field trying to secure places on the International Film, Documentary Feature and Animated Feature shortlists respectively.
The Academy has announced its official entries in the categories of International Film, Documentary Feature and Animated Feature. A total of 93 films are vying for places on the International Film shortlist, 238 for Documentary Feature and 27 for Animated Feature.
The shortlisted features are not Oscar nominees - those films will be chosen in the subsequent round of voting.
The shortlists will be announced on Tuesday, 9 February, with the chosen films then competing for places on the Oscar nominations that will be announced on Monday, 15 March.
The Oscars take place on Sunday, 25 April.
