Honorary Irishman Matt Damon is back in Ireland to restart filming new historical drama The Last Duel after the shoot was abandoned due to the pandemic earlier this year and we've had the first glimpse of his impressive new beard.

The Ridley Scott movie, in which Damon plays Jean de Carrouges, was closed down due to coronavirus and the Jason Bourne star ended up marooned in the Dublin village of Dalkey for several months during lockdown.

The Last Duel also stars Ben Affleck, Michael McElhatton, Jodie Comer, and Adam Driver and is slated to continue filming around Ireland for the next few weeks, with a release date tentatively set for October 15th, 2021.
Damon and his co-stars had previously been shooting under wraps in Wicklow but now filming has moved to a castle in Cahir in Tipperary and new behind-the-scenes photos show Matt and Comer, who plays Damon’s wife, Marguerite de Carrouges, in the new movie, in costume have emerged.
Comer is pictured with her hair in a very fetching braided bun, while alarmingly, Damon is sporting a mullet, which would make any eighties rocker proud.
In the movie, which was written by Damon and Affleck, Jean de Carrouges challenges his best friend, Jacques LeGris, played by Driver, to a duel.
