The Matrix star Keanu Reeves has said that the fourth instalment of the sci-fi franchise will be an inspiring "love story".
Reeves is set to reprise the role of Neo, alongside Carrie-Anne Moss who will return as Trinity, for the first instalment since 2003's The Matrix Revolutions.
Speaking to Ronan Keating on The One Show, Reeves, who is currently filming in Berlin, confirmed that Neo will appear in the new movie, despite fears that his character was gone for good.
He said: "It looked a little dire for Neo."
Speaking about the script Reeves said: "We have a wonderful director, Lana Wachowski, and she has written a beautiful script that is a love story, it's inspiring.
"It's another version, a call to wake up and it has some great action. All will be revealed."
Reeves, who can currently be seen in Bill & Ted Face the Music, also confirmed that the fourth Matrix movie won't be a prequel to the trilogy. He said: "No, no. No going in the past."
The film is co-written, directed and produced by Lana Wachowski, who co-created The Matrix with her sibling Lilly Wachowski.
Production began in Berlin earlier this year but shut down as coronavirus spread across Europe.
