The team behind the Oscar-nominated The Breadwinner, Song of the Sea and The Secret of Kells will be back in Irish cinemas with their new film, Wolfwalkers, next month.

Directed by Tomm Moore (Song of the Sea, The Secret of Kells) and Ross Stewart, and co-produced by Kilkenny's Cartoon Saloon and Luxembourg's Melusine Productions, Wolfwalkers will preview in Irish cinemas from Monday, October 26 and go on release on Friday, October 30. It will stream around the world on Apple TV+ after its cinema run.

Wolfwalkers follows the adventures of Robyn Goodfellowe, "a young apprentice hunter who journeys to Ireland with her father in a time of superstition and magic to wipe out the last wolf pack".

Wolfwalkers opens in Irish cinemas next month

"While exploring the forbidden lands outside the city walls, Robyn befriends a free-spirited girl, Mebh, a member of a mysterious tribe rumoured to have the ability to transform into wolves by night," teases Cartoon Saloon.

"As they search for Mebh's missing mother, Robyn uncovers a secret that draws her further into the enchanted world of the 'Wolfwalkers' and risks turning into the very thing her father is tasked to destroy."

Wolfwalkers has just received its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was described by entertainment trade publication Variety as "visually stunning". It is also part of the line-up for next month's London Film Festival.
