Kanye West has restated his support for Donald Trump, whom he previously named "his brother", in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

The  rapper and producer declares that incorrect assumptions are made about his political views because of his race.

The musician also sees a connection between the reaction he gets for wearing his "Make America Great Again" cap and racial discrimination.

"It reminded me of how I felt as a black guy before I was famous, when I would walk in a restaurant and people would look at you like you were going to steal something," West says.

"'This is your place, Ye, don't talk about apparel. This is your place, Ye, you’re black, so you’re a Democrat.’"

In 2018, West tweeted that he had Donald Trump had a shared "dragon energy" .

The rapper declared he was the greatest artist of all time in October 2019.
