Dublin actor Allen Leech, who is best known for playing Tom Branson on Downton Abbey, has been cast in medical drama The Good Doctor, which is returning to Sky Witness this week after the Christmas break.
The Good Doctor is based on a South Korean programme about a brilliant medic who has to navigate the challenges of autism to achieve a better bedside manner and to curtail his bluntness so that he can get on with his colleagues.
The Dubliner has been cast as control freak Morgan's brother Ariel. To date, Morgan has been the least sympathetic to Shaun's challenges with autism and the source of her no-nonsense approach has never been explored.
Morgan has explained her competitiveness being down to her childhood experience of being pitted against her brother: "Morgan and Ariel's relationship is definitely strained … It’s really challenging for Morgan to feel close to him when she is constantly being compared to him and made to feel lesser than him."
Killiney native Leech is also on the cusp of becoming a father, with his wife due any day with his first child.
The Good Doctor is on Sky Witness Tuesdays at 9.00pm.
