"We were surrounded by an enormous amount of love that was truly palpable," she continued. "We can't thank our families, friends, wedding planners, and photographer enough... and these beautiful horses!"

Hello! magazine reported that the couple wed on January 5 at the Alisal Ranch and Resort in California. Among the guests in attendance were Leech's Downton Abbey co-stars Michelle Dockery and Dan Stevens, and his Bohemian Rhapsody co-star Rami Malek.

The bride's mother is reported to have officiated and former Glee stars Darren Criss and Lea Michele sang at the outdoor ceremony when the string quartet could not perform because of rain.

"It ended up being something quite different," Dubliner Leech told the magazine. "When you get married in California you expect sunshine, but a little bit of Ireland blew over on the day and we had some heavy rain."

The couple announced their engagement in February 2018 after two years of dating.

The Downton Abbey film is due in cinemas on September 13.
