Maura Higgins has said that her partner Curtis Pritchard hasn't been able to help with her preparations for Dancing on Ice.

The Longford model, who came in fourth place alongside pro-dancer Pritchard in this year's series of Love Island, is taking part in the 2020 series when it returns early next year.

Speaking to the Press Association, she said former Dancing with the Stars pro Pritchard hasn't been able to help with her training since she began six weeks ago.

She said: "It's very different. We have not practised anything. It's very different to what he does.

"When I am out of the ice rink I like to just take my mind off it and then start fresh the next day.

"There is always something new to learn."

The 29-year-old Irish TV star also spoke about the new series of Love Island which is coming to South Africa this winter.

When asked if she planned to watch the series, she said: "I hope to. It's exciting. I've just been busy with this.

"Probably, if I get the time, but I hope to last a long time in this.

"I want to be training every single day. I am very focused on this."

Higgins also revealed that the Dancing On Ice contestants share a WhatsApp group.

"It's fun. It's so much fun. Everyone is amazing. We get on so well", she said.

"The banter is just crazy. There is a WhatsApp group. It never stops."
