Saoirse Ronan has revealed that she "aggressively" pursued her role in the upcoming adaptation of Little Women.
Ronan plays Jo in Greta Gerwig's big screen take on the classic Louisa May Alcott novel, and in order to get the part she approached the writer-director directly to put her name forward.
"I've never done this before, but I went up to her and aggressively tapped her on the shoulder and said, 'So I know you're doing Little Women. I really think that I should be Jo," Ronan told The Hollywood Reporter.
The 25-year-old star previously worked with Gerwig on Lady Bird, which saw her earn her third Oscar nomination.
Ronan is being hotly tipped for a fourth Oscar nod for her performance in Little Women.
Little Women hits cinemas on December 26.
