A sequel to the hit film Joker is reportedly in the works after the first movie from director Todd Phillips proved to be a critical and box office success.
According to US entertainment trade publication The Hollywood Reporter, Phillips is in talks to return as director for the sequel.
He would also reunite with screenwriter Scott Silver for the script, having worked together on the first movie's screenplay.
Warner Bros is said to already have a sequel option in place for the film's leading star Joaquin Phoenix, so he would be expected to return as Joker.
The studio and Phillips' representatives have declined to comment on the sequel reports.
Joker recently crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, making it the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever and the most profitable comic book movie of all time.
