The Knick star Clive Owen will portray Bill Clinton in a new series from the American Crime Story team about the former US President's affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky and the subsequent scandal.
Impeachment: American Crime Story will see the British actor joined by Booksmart's Beanie Feldstein as Lewinsky.
US entertainment trade website Deadline, which first reported Owen's casting, says the role of former US First Lady Hillary Clinton is currently being cast.
American Horror Story regular Sarah Paulson - who played prosecutor Marcia Clark in The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story - will portray Linda Tripp in the new series. Tripp was the civil servant who secretly recorded Lewinsky's phone calls about her affair with the president.
Masters of Sex star Annaleigh Ashford will portray Paula Jones, a former Arkansas state employee who sued Bill Clinton for sexual harassment. The case was subsequently settled out of court with no admission of guilt.
The new series, which is based on Jeffrey Toobin's bestselling book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President, will begin filming in late March.
Toobin's book The Run of His Life: The People v. O. J. Simpson was the basis for the multi award-winning The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story.
Impeachment: American Crime Story is due to premiere in the US on September 27, 2020.
