Zooey Deschanel's estranged husband Jacob Pechenik has filed for divorce from the actress, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split.
According to US showbiz publication People, the producer filed the documents on Tuesday (October 22) in Los Angeles County.
The date of separation is listed as January 8 this year.
The New Girl star and Pechenik had been married for four years and share two children together, four-year-old daughter Elsie and two-year-old son Charlie.
According to the divorce filling, Pechenik has requested joint legal and physical custody of their children.
The couple met on the set of the film Rock the Kasbah and confirmed their engagement in January 2015.
They were married that summer and welcomed their first child around the same time.
Last month, they announced their split, saying in a joint statement they were "better off as friends, business partners and co-parents rather than life partners".
Two days ago, Deschanel made her relationship with Canadian TV personality Jonathan Silver Scott, best known for the series Property Brothers, "Instagram official" by posting a picture of them with a group of friends while he is carrying her in his arms.

The actress and singer was previously married to Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard. They wed in 2009 and separated in 2011. Their divorce was finalised in 2012.
