Jennifer Aniston has finally acquiesced and joined Instagram after previously insisting she would not have a social media account.

The Hollywood star has delighted fans with her first post - a picture of herself with her former Friends co-stars Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and Matthew Perry.

She wrote: "And now we're Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM."

One of the first replies was from her The Morning Show co-star Reese Witherspoon, who wrote: "YASSSS!!! Welcome to Insta Jen!!!"

Aniston's ex-husband Justin Theroux also sent good wishes, writing: "Woot-Woot! #first."

Aniston recently hinted she might be tempted to join social media.

Asked if she would sign up to Instagram, she told Entertainment Tonight: "Maybe. You never know... What you resist, persists. It's something that is a part of our world now and it's not going away."

Jennifer Aniston's This Morning Show co-star Reese Witherspoon welcomed her to Instagram

The 50-year-old actress revealed that fellow Hollywood A-lister Witherspoon made some convincing arguments about joining the social networking site.

"You can actually have a little bit more control over the narrative that's out there," Aniston said.

"[You can] right some wrongs and some silly things that, God knows, are said often."

Aniston and Witherspoon's upcoming series This Morning Show will debut exclusively on Apple TV Plus in the autumn.
