It is reported that Love Island's Irish contestant Maura Higgins is to become a presenter on the ITV daytime show This Morning.

The Mirror says the Longford woman will "host her very own phone-in providing viewers with her much-loved no-nonsense advice".

The Mirror says Higgins will also star in a This Morning strand called Maura Than Meets the Eye, "a series of short films in which she takes on challenges".

"I'm getting flutters about joining This Morning," Higgins is quoted as saying. "I can't believe it. It's beyond my wildest dreams.

"I've grown up watching Phillip [Schofield], Holly [Willoughby], Eamonn [Holmes], Ruth [Langsford] and the team. Mad to think I'm now part of that iconic family. Can't wait to crack on."

This Morning editor Martin Frizell said: "Maura was the standout star of this year's villa antics with her straight-talking opinionated views."

The Love Island couples and presenter Caroline Flack will be back on screens this Sunday for Love Island: The Reunion. The show airs on Virgin Media Two and ITV2 on Sunday at 9:00pm.
