Strewth! Home and Away's future may be in doubt

The future of long-running Australian soap Home and Away could be in doubt after TV Network Seven said the show had suffered a 50% drop in viewership.

Despite the 454,000 drop in audience figures, the show, which airs on RTÉ2, still has average daily viewing figures of 661,000. However, it is lagging well behind rival channel NINE's hit shows MAFS, LegoMasters and The Voice.

Network Seven is now under pressure to stop shedding viewers to rival networks in competitive current affairs slots. 

Australian online TV news Blackbox says that if Home and Away moved to a later time slot, the programme could contain more adult-oriented story lines.
